Project Description

Strong planning influences arose from the busy intersection, strict Council river precinct setback requirements, sweeping westerly river views and a large family unit of 7. The natural topography helped inform the location of the undercroft, housing a gymnasium, storage and garage. The first floor contains the main living spaces with their requirements for connection to the ground and pool whilst utilising the views, while the upper floor houses the bedrooms with specific zones for the diverse family demographic.

Priority for the river views was afforded the kitchen meals and alfresco spaces with careful consideration of sun screening from the harsh western sun. The external aluminium louvers formed the basis of the sun control, privacy and the west elevations aesthetic. Large expanses of glass provide a connection to the exterior, whether it is the river aspect or the 25m swimming pool that forms the centre piece of the outdoor living space. Large copper pipe trellises enclose the exterior spaces providing, landscaping features, sun screening and privacy.
