Jury Comments

The house is competent work which has been thoroughly executed. The Jury believes that the quality of building detail and the thoroughness of its execution is worthy of note.

The house is a pleasing arrangement of forms, materials and details with a high level of resolution. The house incorporates some interesting plays of volume. A series of inter penetrating spaces including some with internal fenestration permit a variety of spatial experiences and a high level of permeability within the house.

The balance and proportion of materials with respect to their texture and colour sensitivity manipulated to achieve a harmonious result. The incorporation of cabinetwork and landscaping within the composition represents a skilful integration of the various elements of architecture which make up the architectural experience.

Riley Road
Dalkeith

Project Description

The brief called for a substantial private residence to be constructed on a ¼ acre site, along one of Perth’s most prestigious streets. The challenge was to blend traditional materials such as slate roofing, bagged brickwork, timber linings, etc., in a stimulating way and incorporate these materials as the basis of the interior design.
