Venn Street, Peppermint Grove

residential alteration and addition,
completed 2002

Project Description

This alteration endeavours to simplify the kitchen, meals / family and outdoor areas in a contemporary manner, whilst creating a functional and fun area for family interaction.

Morning light has been filtered through the existing peppermint trees across the kitchen to the meals room table, where the family gather each morning to commence and greet the day.

North light has been controlled by means of a transparent pergola and large sliding doors, which control summer heat while allowing deep winter sun penetration. The new pergola wraps the existing building and finishes over the front door, thus suggesting that the original building structure has been modified in a contrasting style.

The kitchen has been carefully planned to allow for a tea/coffee area, an appliance cupboard with provision for cook books, an open shelf pantry screened from view and a separate drinks fridge with immediate undercover access to the all weather BBQ.
